    What is Sharp Waste Disposal?

Disposing of sharps waste can be risky and dangerous, but we have made it simple, easy, quick, and within the boundaries of the legal framework for you.

Sharp wastes are contaminated with some kind of fluid or blood, carrying some virus, fungi, or bacteria, posing a major threat to human life in the form of blood-borne disease. This is the reason experts like us are needed to ensure proper sharp bin disposal.

There are basically five types of sharps waste and we cover all of them for you. We are committed to providing you with a customised sharps container disposal service for your convenience. Within the sharps waste-related service, we cover sharp bin disposal, cytotoxic waste disposal, medical sharps disposal and biomedical waste disposal. Sharps waste can also be seen from chemicals and mills as well and is treated as per UK law.

Sharp bins collection involves two types of bins. The yellow one is used for sharps such as needles, syringes, used or broken pieces of laboratory materials, etc. However, Purple-lidded sharp disposal boxes are used for hazardous sharps waste, known as cytostatic properties. We have orange-coloured and tiger-stripe waste bags, which include sharps that are contaminated with blood and can cause problems. Our sharps box disposal service involves bins & containers of different colours, as each of them is meant for different kinds of waste.

Your safety is our priority when it comes to the disposal of sharps bins. The bins and containers that we provide are quite sturdy. They are created to make sure that the sharps do not pierce or cut through the bins and containers, infecting the user in any way. We offer bins and containers of different sizes depending on the average amount of waste you generate.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Frequently Asked Questions

Any waste, which includes sharps, is called “sharp waste.” It includes instruments with sharp edges that can cause cuts and penetrate the skin. The sharps are used and are contaminated with infected fluids that can cause blood-borne diseases.

The most common examples of sharps are needles, syringes, scalpels, broken glass, or anything else that has a sharp edge, which is more than enough to cut your skin or penetrate it, infecting one’s bloodstream.

Yes. We provide an end-to-end service when it comes to servicing sharp waste. From sharps bin collection to disposal, we take care of everything. Once we are in contract, we would do a site visit and help you with sharp bins, boxes, or containers.

Sharps bins are disposed of using two processes: autoclaving and incineration. If the sharps waste poses a low threat to people, then sterilization through autoclaving is used. However, if the risk of infection is high, incineration is required.

Once the sharps bin is full by three-quarters, simply close the lid and store it at a place mutually agreed upon with your local council or the contractor so that it can be picked up at a scheduled time.
